I appreciate how Barack Obama is much more of a pragmatist than either myself or his predecessor. I understand that sometimes there needs to be a little give and take to Washington. But the failed policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" needs to be addressed, and now.
Look people, we need bodies to be fighting both the war that Bush had to start, and the war he chose to start. We have men and women serving on the front lines. It makes no sense to be kicking people out of this man's, not that man's army, when all they want in life is to serve, for being homosexual.
13,000 people, since the implementation of D.A.D.T., have been fired from the armed forces for being who they are. If we fired people if we found out that they were part Afghani, or jewish, there would be riots in the streets. What you think about homosexuality or not, this is blatant discrimination, bordering on racism, and it needs to be stopped.
When we look at the amount of our fighting men and women who finish their tour only to get stop-lossed into a second, third or fourth, and we have thousands of people who actually want to be there who are kicked out. Not only is this unfair to America's homosexual population, but it is unfair to our heterosexual fighters who have been de-facto drafted due to lack of enlistment. The armed forces have even loosened their requirements on ex-cons, intelligence, etc. But still, you can't be a dude who likes dudes and volunteer to fight for your country.
Really, I don't get it.
